
Sphere Fluidics Engineer and University of Hull Publish Microfluidics Paper on Animal Testing Substitutes for Clinical Studies
Dr Giuseppe Benazzi (a Senior Engineer at Sphere Fluidics) and collaborators at the University of Hull have just published an article in the proceedings of microFlu-14, the 4th European Conference on Microfluidics that took place in Limerick (Ireland) on December 10-12, 2014. Dr Benazzi commented: “This exciting work features a cost-effective, plug-and-play microfluidic-based system for the detection of sub-micron biological particles carrying Tissue Factor and that are associated with complications that occurs in many tumours and that are often responsible for patient mortality. Ultimately, the system has the potential to culture tissues on chip so to simulate an in-vivo human system and offer a more reliable and cost effective alternative to animal testing”. The title of the paper is: “On-chip study of tissue related cancer complications”, the work was presented at the 4th European Conference on Microfluidics and an article was published in the relative proceedings.
