Wow, what a year 2023 was for us at Sphere Fluidics! The company has grown and evolved in so many ways; notably with a substantial 52% increase in headcount throughout the year. In May, we also had the pleasure of welcoming Kenneth Hitchner as the new Chairman of our Board of Directors.
Following a complete rebrand to better reflect our identity and customer-centric approach, we announced updates which enable the Cyto-Mine® to be compliant with current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) regulations enforced by the US FDA. Off the back of this we were thrilled in August to be named ‘Best Life Sciences R&D Company 2023 – UK’ by Global Health & Pharma!
Throughout the year we were also busy attending international conferences, forging new relationships, and working collaboratively to enable researchers to shorten workflow times by months, find rare cells and obtain better clones! (For more information on this, catch up on our recent collaboration news with FairJourney Biologics and Biosyntia).
But the pinnacle of 2023 had to be our move into the new office and lab expansion late last year. With large labs containing up-to-date equipment, greenery for staff wellbeing, stylish meeting rooms and nooks for collaborative work, our new space will enable us to give the best of our abilities to the industry; and allow us to grow in 2024 and beyond. We also had a great open day with industry friends and customers, and speeches from the Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, The Rt Hon the Lord Lansley, and our chairman, Ken Hitchner.
So what’s next?
We’re bringing more thrilling developments, upcoming events, and an abundance of cells to sort. We are kick-starting 2024 with the release of our webinar featuring guest speaker Jonathan Dempsey, delving into the topic of Accelerating Cell Line Development From Transfection to Manufacturing.
We’re then straight into the SLAS 2024 conference in Boston, US. We’re excited to be hosting a spotlight solutions talk, ‘Picodroplets for Cell Line Engineering: a Novel Automation Approach,’ presented by our Chief Technical Officer, Richard Hammond. If you can’t make the SLAS 2024 event, sign up to our February newsletter as we will be covering all the event highlights and a recording of Richard’s spotlight talk.
And last, but not least, marking a significant date on our calendar, we’ll be participating in the Labroots: Drug Discovery & Development Virtual Event on February 21st. Tune in to hear insights from our very own Senior Field Application Scientist, Romina Durigon. These are just a glimpse of the exciting events we have lined up for 2024. Explore our events page for a complete list of our guest appearances.
Cheers to a year filled with innovation, exploration, and excitement!
