Location: Hybrid at Granta Park, Cambridge UK 

Salary range: £50,000 – £70,000 per annum

Job Type: Full Time / Permanent

The Role

The Legal Associate is a new role which will report to Vice-President of POD. The successful candidate will support a broad variety of activities by, providing expert administrative support for both internal and external stakeholders, investigating and making recommendations on legal / contractual matters, drafting legal / contractual documentation and supporting our Board of Directors and Company Shareholders by providing timely and relevant information.

 

Responsibilities

Provide administrative support to Senior Leadership Team on legal / contractual matters

  • Establish Contract Life Cycle management (CLM) processes, and own on-going management of CLM
  • Negotiating a variety of inbound and outbound contracts (from NDA/CDA’s to vendor agreements to customer and distribution agreements)
  • IP/FTO management, license/term sheet review and negotiations
  • Relationship management and negotiation of fee’s for Sphere’s external council(s)
  • Protects the interest of the company by understanding and interpreting contractual terms and conditions
  • Liaise between key stakeholders (Commercial/R&D/HR/Ops) regarding legal / contractual matters
  • Draft, review, and edit legal / contractual documents ensuring due diligence
  • Investigate, research and make appropriate recommendations relating to best practice in terms of Contract Life Cycle management processes
  • Support Board of Directors and Company Shareholders by providing timely and relevant information e.g. investor updates
  • Continuously scrutinise the companies’ activities / decisions to identify areas of improvements and mitigate risks
  • Support a wide variety of other legal work and / or projects as required.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified solicitor, ideally with 3 years PQE
  • Bachelor’s degree in law
  • Strong understanding of UK and US laws and regulations
  • Experience of preparing documents in support of funding rounds
  • Experience of working for life science sector or scale-up small/medium organisation
  • Experience of working in collaboration with a Board of Directors
  • Ability to project manage to a high standard
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
