Senior Scientist - Biology

Salary Range: £40,000 – £48,000 per annum

What you’ll do

Specific job duties:

  • Design, develop and optimize biochemical and cell-based assays for target protein characterization and screening purposes.
  • Design and implement protein labelling techniques such as fluorescent labelling, biotinylation, and enzymatic conjugation to develop novel assay formats.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other research teams to deliver assigned projects.
  • Analyze assay data, troubleshoot, and propose innovative solutions to improve assay performance and robustness.
  • Contribute to writing documentation (user guides, protocols, etc.) for newly developed assays/products.
  • Stay abreast of the latest scientific advancements and technologies in the field of assay development, protein engineering, and drug discovery.

What we’re looking for

Essential

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proven track record of success in developing and optimizing robust biochemical and cell-based assays to detect and quantify cellular secretion
  • In- depth knowledge of antibody structure and associated formats such as bispecific antibodies.
  • Systematic, methodical approach to assay design, implementation and data analysis
  • Extensive hands-on experience in protein labelling techniques, including but not limited to fluorescent labelling, biotinylation, and site-specific conjugation.
  • Aseptic cell culture technique, and relevant applications (for example, viability, proliferation, cell-based assays etc).
  • Prior experience in conducting multi-colour fluorochrome assays for multiplexed applications
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Team-orientation toward collaboration and mutual success
  • Ability to ensure reproducible and transferable work through use of appropriate procedures and documentation.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of cell line development techniques and experience in establishing stable cell lines expressing recombinant proteins will be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with drug discovery processes.
  • Knowledge of single cell isolation, microfluidic droplet generation, assay development for protein characterisation in droplets will be desirable.
