Title: Senior Software Systems Engineer

Salary Range: £45,000 – £57,000 per annum

Location: Granta Park, Cambridge CB21 6AL (limited hybrid working)

Job Type: Full Time / Permanent  

Functional Area: R&D – Physics & Engineering

Reports to: Group Leader – Software

What you’ll do 

You will work in a multi-disciplinary team, delivering top-quality software for our unique, life-science platforms. These combine complex microfluidic, optical, and mechanical assemblies along with reagents and bioassays to implement our Picodroplet technology and enable our customers to develop novel therapies in areas such as cancer and immune diseases. You should be enthusiastic with excellent team-working and communication skills. You will need to be flexible and self-motivated with a desire to succeed, whatever the challenge. 

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Conduct Software Systems Engineering activities including requirements management, risk assessments and maintaining regulatory compliance 
  • Produce use cases, interfaces and other technical documentation 
  • Prepare for and execute design reviews within our design and development processes 
  • Manage verification, validation activities 

 

What we’re looking for 

Skills and Experience 

  • A degree level qualification in Physics, Engineering or equivalent 
  • Extensive experience developing software in industry, through the entire product lifecycle 
  • Recent experience defining, documenting and managing software requirements, and managing risks for complex products comprising software and hardware 
  • Experience developing software architectures for systems involving hardware 
  • Familiarity with software design and development processes and a good understanding of the necessary documentation and traceability required to develop top-quality, commercial software 
  • Good knowledge of with object-orientated programming languages, particularly C++ and C# 

Advantageous 

  • Experience with medical devices or in an equivalent regulated industry 
  • Experience of products for life-sciences research and the underlying biological processes 
  • Experience with Agile management principles 
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps
