Title: Software Systems Engineer

Salary Range: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum

Location: Granta Park, Cambridge CB21 6AL (limited hybrid working)

Job Type: Full Time / Permanent  

Functional Area: R&D – Physics & Engineering

Reports to: Group Leader – Software

What you’ll do 

The successful candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary team, delivering unique, life-science instrumentation that combines complex microfluidic, optical, and mechanical assemblies to provide our Picodroplet technology. They should be enthusiastic with excellent team-working and communication skills. They will be flexible and self-motivated with a desire to succeed, whatever the challenge. 

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Conducting Software Systems Engineering activities including requirements management, risk assessments, verification, validation and regulatory compliance 
  • Producing use cases, interfaces and technical documentation 
  • Preparing and delivering design reviews 
  • Technical management of suppliers and customers 

 

What we’re looking for 

Skills and Experience 

  • A degree level qualification in Physics, Engineering or equivalent 
  • A strong technical background gained through working in industry 
  • The ability to manage ambiguity and identify and mitigate risk 
  • Are meticulous and accurate with details and documentation, and are able to conduct technical communication fluently 
  • Professional experience with high level programming languages  
  • An appreciation of coding patterns and object orientated design 
  • A keen eye for fault-finding 
  • Self-motivated, with a drive towards continual personal and technical improvement 

Advantageous 

  • Experience with medical devices or in an equivalent regulated industry 
  • Experience with Agile management principles
